In 1874, United States Cavalry
troops under Col. Ronald S. Mackenzie made a surprise dawn attack on a
large encampment of Comanches, Kiowas, and Cheyennes, forcing them to
return to their reservations in Indian Territory. During that
action the cavalry rounded up and slaughtered over 2,000 Native American
horses...you can still feel it in the air over 130 years later...
